Bending Moment Shear Force Features & Benefits The beams are designed to be used with conventional scaffold tube and fittings for all lacing and bracing. Connection between beams is by a simple four bolt spigot joint for fast and accurate location. The Superlight Aluminium Modular Beam is considerably stronger than its traditional steel equivalent, giving significant savings in scaffolding components and speedy erection.
DESIGN CRITERIA BENDING MOMENT Maximum allowable bending moment, assuming loads applied at node points with maximum distance between lateral supports at 1000mm centre, is 36.0kNm (with a safety factor of 1.67) SHEAR FORCE Maximum allowable shear force (limited by the buckling of the last diagonal brace of the lattice beams) is 37.5kN (with a safety factor of 2.0) All designs using Superlight Aluminium Modular Beams should be prepared by a suitably qualified engineer
